JAPAN CDMO Association (formerly Japan CMO Association)

The Japan CMO Association (JCMOA) was established in November 2010 when 18 contract manufacturing organizations (CMO) joined together for the purpose of undertaking research aimed at promoting the further growth and expansion of Japan’s CMO industry and resolving issues facing the industry; formulating voluntary guidelines related to the ideal form, etc., of appropriate contract manufacturing with pharmaceutical companies; formulating countermeasures to risks involved in contract manufacturing operations; collaborating with pharmaceutical organizations and regulatory authorities; and providing opinions.
Furthermore, in May 2026, we decided that it would be best to change the name to more accurately indicate the functions and social roles of member companies, as the importance of CDMOs (contract drug development and manufacturing organizations) that provide consistent support from the development stage to manufacturing is increasing against the backdrop of the sophistication and speed of drug development, the expansion of biopharmaceuticals, and the complexity of manufacturing processes.
